Real Life German

German is everywhere. Either by listening to strangers in the "U-Bahn" or just by walking in the city with eyes wide open you will find a lot of different German/Austrian sayings (like the "Oida" in the Graffiti below). This is one way of inspiration and you can try to understand as much as possible by careful listening and watching. On the other side you can practice a lot just by talking with people. What to talk about? I don´t believe it´s the question of what to talk about, it´s more a question of how to start. Public places like parks (Prater or simply go for a walk on the Donaukanal, train stations, shopping centers, etc.) can open up many possibilities for you to practice your talking&listening. Think about all the dog owners you could easily start a conversation by saying something like: "Ihr Hund ist so süß" :-)
Or just go to the train station and ask for different information on tickets/journeys, even if you don´t need them. Walk around the city and ask strangers for the way to a certain place/street/shop. It makes you feel confident with different sounds of German and at the same time you´ll earn much confidence while talking in German!
